Buildings come back to life in Geneva!

In the heart of the Plainpalais Jonction district, the Maraîchers 2-4-6 buildings belonging to the Hospice général have been brought back to life: three old buildings have been replaced by three new ones, with 108 THPE and Minergie-P-Eco units. These buildings, managed by Edouard BRUN & Cie S.A., include rent-controlled housing, clusters, shops and a range of common spaces designed to encourage interaction and community life.

Our mission?

  • Co-build participative governance for the management of common spaces with residents to bring these spaces to life. 📝
  • Encourage future residents to get involved and define the uses of the premises. 🤝
  • Creating a sustainable social dynamic based on sharing, mutual aid and pooling. 🌱

For the past year, we have been working to prepare the activation of this district by defining :

  • Possible uses and functions of common areas.
  • A collaborative governance model.
  • A concrete action plan to bring these spaces to life.

On October 12, this new dynamic was launched with a welcome aperitif. The event marked the first convivial gathering between the residents. This moment of exchange allowed :

  • Gather more than 65 participants.
  • Gathered over 30 ideas for activities and projects for common areas.
  • Share a well-stocked Canadian buffet.
  • Win raffle prizes from local merchants.

Next steps:
Meetings to determine the functions of common spaces and set up the residents’ association 👥 to co-manage the premises.

Follow the progress of the activation on the district website.
